On October 19, 2018, the European Union and Vietnam signed a voluntary association FLEGT agreement. With the signing of this agreement, the situation regarding FLEGT agreements is as follows:
- Countries that have signed and ratified the voluntary association agreement and therefore have the ability to issue FLEGT licenses. To date only the Republic of Indonesia. This country is issuing licenses from November 15, 2016.
- Countries that have signed Voluntary Partnership Agreements with the EU. Cameroon, Central African Republic, Ghana, Liberia, Republic of the Congo and Vietnam. Despite the signing of agreements, these countries still can not issue FLEGT licenses.
- Countries that have started negotiations with the EU to proceed with the signing of Voluntary Association Agreements. Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Guyana, Honduras, Laos, Malaysia and Thailand.
